Today's look is all about silk. I prefer silk, cotton and wool over any other fabrics. I live in a city that has over 80 degree weather about 3/4 of the year and it's super humid all of the time. Although it's great for wrinkles, a man made fabric is pretty much might nightmare. Silk is one of the best fabrics you can invest in and believe it or not - if you handwash it, it's pretty easy to take care of. I rarely dry clean anything (had a few back encounters, and decided against it outside of taking my coats). I simple handwash my silk items and line dry them.
Although I bought this skirt and shell at Anthropologie a while back, I found some very similar tops here, here and here. They look really great with a pair of skinny jeans or tucked in like I did today. The skirt however is one of a kind (sorry!). I did find a few silk ones below if you are looking to make an investment. Silk is not the cheapest fabric, but if you take care of it properly - it holds up nicely over time. The other thing to note is that it requires steaming or ironing.
The best part about silk is that it's really lightweight. It feels like you are wearing practically nothing! During those humid and hot days here in Houston, that's a dream come true. I really love the soft peachy color of this one and find that although it's brighter than I would normally pick out for an investment piece it works well with pale blue, gray and cream. I think it would be perfect with this skirt or this one!
