One of the things I try to do at the end of the season is scour quality clearance items for deep discounts on my favorite pieces. Oftentimes, I create a wish list and then wait for sale season to actually purchase! It's so easy to stay organized that way since Nordstrom, Target and Amazon offer the wish list feature. When you decide to shop clearance the most important thing to remember is to buy pieces you love and will know you will wear. Although I run a fashion blog, I try to be responsible about spending. I try not to buy just because something because it is cheap. Instead pick items that are within your color palette and can mix and match with what you own already. Also, buy layering pieces like tees and tanks. They can be worn all year round to add extra warmth under sweaters and blazers.

Sundresses and Shirtdresses

Soft cotton stripes and linen prints are HUGE during Spring and Summer. I love grabbing a few discounted dresses in solids and classic prints like gingham or stripes. Stick to colors that you love or that are on the more neutral side. You'll find selections of yellows, pastels, brights, whites and tans. Navy and white are always in style so I also stock up on those pieces.

Lightweight Athleisure

Need new lightweight joggers, capri leggings, shorts or sports bras? This is a GREAT time to pick those up on clearance. Companies usually release these items towards the end of Winter to prepare people for outdoor activities during the warmer months. You'll probably be able to find really great tops or tanks with built in support this time of year. Again, make sure you buy things you love and solid colors are usually worn more often than prints. If you are a golfer or tennis player, you'll find plenty of options for those items too!

Swimwear and Beach Totes

This is pretty obvious, but swimwear is the most seasonal of all of the summer garments. Pick up a bathing suit in stripes, gingham, solids and polka dots. All of these choice remain tried and true season after season. Beach accessories are also on clearance so don't forget to parouse canvas totes, towels, and

Slides, Sandals and Wedges

Have you been eyeing a pair of embellished jack rogers or tory burch slides all summer? Definitely on clearance right now. How about those beautiful Castaner wedges in a variety of bold hues? Yep, those too! Do a quick inventory of the shoes you wore the most this season. Then, check and see if they need replacing. Replace as needed so you spend less for the following summer.

Sun Hats and Baseball caps

As isles are clearing the way for Winter's felt, wool and knit hats you'll find that straw hats and baseball caps are a great deal! The classic boater has made a comeback over the past few years and you really can't go wrong with a baseball cap for those messy hair days on the weekends.

Well, there you have it! A simple strategy for shopping this season's summer clearances and sales. If you are looking for patio furniture or a new grill these are usually on sale, too!
